About the role
As Participation and Practice Lead, you will get to set the direction and ensure successful delivery of our participation and practice development functions to achieve policy and practice change for children living in poverty in Scotland. You'll lead and empower a dynamic team helping develop their knowledge and skills and embedding best practice across these functions; lead on key programmes of work; oversee and develop a portfolio of projects; and proactively secure strategic partnerships and influential relationships at both national and local level to support our work.

This role will help secure funds from partners in Scotland, to support our work here (in Scotland) and across the world. In Scotland we stand side by side with children and families to challenge poverty and its impact on their lives. We want to support families to have enough money for a decent standard of living, reduce living costs and ensure every child is supported to learn and develop to realise their potential. We work closely with the communities we aim to support as well as a broad spectrum of stakeholders in government, across the third sector and in communities.
Please note that this role will be based in Scotland. The successful candidate will have the option to work from our Scotland office/ from Home.
About you
As our Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating, growing, and stewarding relationships and networks with Trusts, Foundations, and philanthropists based in Scotland. You will ensure a tailored, inspiring, and personalised journey with Save the Children, working closely with the Scotland team to develop high-quality proposals for donors. By doing so, you will help secure crucial support and build sustainable relationships that yield income for our highest priorities, ultimately transforming the lives of children.

Ways of Working:
Remote First – The majority of our roles can be performed remotely, however you may work from the office as often as you wish. Whilst you will be predominantly working from home, we may at times require you to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). Note: This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team. This is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

You will:
• Develop and deliver ambitious and credible policy proposals to sustainably tackle child poverty in Scotland.
• Work as part of a small team to build the evidence base for change based on high quality analysis, research projects and evidence from families and children we're working with and for.
• Build and maintain expert knowledge on key Scottish Parliament and wider public affairs developments and engagement opportunities to inform our influencing work.
• Build and maintain external relationships with stakeholders in the political and policy communities and build a network of allies and partners on key issues
• Create opportunities for parents and children to shape policy solutions and influence decision-makers.
To be successful you will have:
• Experience of working within a social justice policy environment in Scotland and of securing national policy changes.
• An in-depth knowledge and understanding of political and policy structures and processes in Scotland and how to influence them.
• Experience working with the Scottish Parliament and a good knowledge and understanding of the processes.
• A strong track record in stakeholder engagement and have a wide networks of contacts across government, parliament and policy sectors.
• Ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with others and demonstrate proactive, positive and inclusive workplace behaviours.

As Partnership Lead you will develop and maintain a range of partnerships, including working with schools, local authorities and other charities and community organisations. You’ll build strong relationships with children and families, engaging them in the development of partnerships and campaigns, and ensuring that our work empowers them. You’ll have responsibility for programme and project management, supporting high impact implementation and delivery.

• Work on innovation and practice development, helping facilitate partner engagement in this work
• Design and carry out data, research and evaluation tasks, ensure that all work undertaken generates the learning and evidence that we can share with our networks,
• Work closely with policy colleagues to support influencing for local and national change

To be successful you will be committed to improving the lives of children and families and have experience of engaging children, young people and families and supporting them to share their experiences, and of co-developing approaches with them. You’ll have excellent programme and project management skills and experience of working with partners to deliver projects and programmes and be capable of building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You’ll have an understanding of early child development, how poverty impacts on children, families and neighbourhoods and the barriers communities face in seeking to bring about positive change, and a broad knowledge of the evidence about what works to support children and families.
