We’re looking for an experienced marketing and community engagement professional with a passion for tackling the climate emergency to join our busy waste projects team.

Technical Officer – Home Renewables

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within our Technical Team at Home Energy Scotland to assist households to install micro-renewable technologies and advise on energy efficiency options for hard to treat properties.

Based within the Home Energy Scotland advice centre at Changeworks, the role is predominantly field-based and will require extensive travel throughout South East Scotland. You will join a skilled team with a focus on delivering an exceptional customer journey which starts in our advice centre right through to a tailored in-home visit which will identify suitable measures and potential available funding.

You’ll have a thirst for knowledge and the ability to inspire customers to take action. Whether it’s a home visit, running a briefing session or presenting to a group of employees you’ll be able to clearly explain complex technologies in a clear and friendly way. This role will also involve engaging with householders at various events throughout the year where you will be delivering advice to customers face to face.

Quality Assurance Inspector

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within our Quality Assurance team to carry out quality inspections on energy efficiency projects. Your role will be to ensure the work is being completed to specification and industry standard delivering a high level of service with a focus on customer service, health and safety, and quality of work.

We are looking for someone with previous experience in the insulation industry and/or dealing with wet trades. They should have exceptional customer service skills; target driven and can communicate complex information in a straightforward and accessible way to contractors, colleagues and householders.

This is a site-based role that requires you to be well organised, carry out detailed inspections, oversee installations and provide good quality feedback reports.

A full valid driving license is essential.

Energy Advisor

Technical Advisor – Private Sector and Renewables Specialist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within our Technical Team at Home Energy Scotland as a Technical Advisor to provide advice on energy efficiency and renewable technology to landlords and tenants as well as domestic households.

You will promote Home Energy Scotland services to private sector landlords and tenants providing them with advice through a variety of different methods including our home visit service where a follow up report will be provided. Meeting and networking with partners and stakeholders is an important part of the role. Crucially this post will also facilitate landlords to act to improve the energy efficiency of their rental properties and access any available financial support.

This role will also support the delivery of the home renewables service and hard to treat service through providing advice on the phone, events and home visits. You will provide a follow up report to the householders that you visit outlining the potential for energy efficiency and renewable technology. An important part of this role is providing follow up support and advice by phone to check progress and encourage action as well as supporting the delivery of HES advice services.

You will have a thirst for knowledge and an ability to inspire customers to take action whether during a home visit, networking events or over the phone you will be able to communicate complex technologies in a clear and friendly manner.

Our Event Advisors provide high quality advice and information about energy efficiency, renewable technologies, water efficiency and sustainable transport. We are dedicated to encouraging Scottish householders to make changes, helping them to have more a sustainable future and supporting them to access any funding available both at events and on inbound and outbound calls.

Our induction programme is an SQA accredited qualification, and successful candidates will also complete a City and Guilds qualification on Energy Awareness in the home.

The ideal candidate and the role

Are you an enthusiastic individual who enjoys engaging with customers face to face? Then this role is for you. You will have the opportunity to engage customers in a wide range of settings including medical practices, sports stadia and workplaces to provide high quality advice and enabling people to take action.

Being a confident communicator who can proactively adapt your approach to the audience is a must. You will have an excellent understanding of the importance of high-quality customer service and be motivated to provide excellent advice whilst being target driven.

Flexibility is important as evening and weekend work will be required.

There will be travel across South East Scotland for this role, so a full clean driving license is desirable. There is a need to travel throughout the South East and a driving licence or explanation of how you would fulfil this element of the role in a satisfactory fashion is required.

The ideal candidate and the role

To be successful in this role you should have a passion for customer service and be a confident communicator.

Our advisors speak to a wide range of customers with varied enquiries on a daily basis, providing them with high quality advice tailored to their circumstances and persuading them to take action and change their behaviours.

You will join a team of customer focused energy advisors based in a busy office environment, taking inbound calls and making outbound calls to our existing customers. An interest in the environment and sustainability would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

It is expected that this role will overlap with Energy Advisors delivering advice at a number of events throughout the year.

Senior Project Administrator (s)

An experience project administrator with a commitment to tackling climate change is sought to support an area-based environmental programme currently based in Peebles. You will be working with the local community to deliver an integrated programme of Changeworks activities to pilot an area-based approach to promote low carbon living and working and tackling fuel poverty. The initial focus of the programme will be to deliver an energy efficiency and demand reduction programme – part of the Scottish Borders Council delivery of Energy Efficiency Scotland. This could be expanded to include a range of other activities including waste prevention and transport. Travel across the Scottish Borders region may be necessary as well as some travel to the head office in Edinburgh.

This post is equivalent to one full time post of 35 hours per week and you will be expected to work some weekends dependant on business needs and other out of hours work at events with time off in lieu. We would also welcome applications for part-time/job share positions (17.5 hours per week, covering mornings, afternoons or 2.5 full days).
