The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (The ALLIANCE) is an independent Scottish Charity funded by a grant from the Scottish Government.  Our vision is for a Scotland where people of all ages who are disabled or living with long term conditions, and unpaid carers, have a strong voice and enjoy their right to live well, as equal and active citizens, free from discrimination, with support and services that put them at the centre.

The ALLIANCE has three core aims; we seek to: 

  • Ensure people are at the centre, that their voices, expertise and rights drive policy and sit at the heart of design, delivery and improvement of support and services.

  • Support transformational change, towards approaches that work with individual and community assets, helping people to stay well, supporting human rights, self-management, co-production and independent living.

  • Champion and support the third sector as a vital strategic and delivery partner and foster better cross-sector understanding and partnership.

Community Links Practitioner

The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland is an independent Scottish Charity and works with the Scottish Government as a strategic intermediary in health and social care with core funding for that purpose. Our vision is for a Scotland where people of all ages who are disabled or living with long term conditions, and unpaid carers, have a strong voice and enjoy their right to live well, as equal and active citizens, free from discrimination, with support and services that put them at the centre.

The aim of the Links Worker Programme is to support people to live well through strengthening connections between community resources and primary care in deprived areas in Scotland.

We are expanding our Links Worker Programme into new GP practices across the city.

The Community Links Practitioner will provide a person-centred service that is responsive to the needs and interests of a GP practice population. They will support them to identify issues that affect their ability to live well. Working collaboratively with individuals, the post holder will support them through decision making processes to help them decide upon the issues that they would like to address and help them to overcome any barriers to addressing these.

You must have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of socio-economic deprivation in relation to living well.

PVG Scheme membership is required for this post.

The Events, Communications and Academy Co-ordinator will support the co-ordination and management of the ALLIANCE and the Academy’s programme of events and will communicate ALLIANCE programmes and activities effectively. The post holder will provide general administrative support in events and communications and Academy programmes.

You will have strong organisational and communication skills, experience of managing events and be proactive in promoting the work of the ALLIANCE and our members, together with a strong understanding of the ALLIANCE’s agenda and the ability to work as part of a wider team.

Annual leave entitlement is 25 days per annum plus 12 public holidays. The leave year runs from 1st April to 31st March.

This role will involve working closely with colleagues in the digital health and care team and across the wider ALLIANCE, the public and a range of stakeholders and collaborators in the third sector, private sector and wider Scottish digital health and care community. This includes people who are disabled, living with long term conditions or providing unpaid care, third sector organisations including social enterprises, commercial organisations, the NHS, social care providers, HSCPs and the Scottish Government.

The main aspects of the role are to:

  • undertake and/or support user research in all phases i.e. Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live
  • undertake user research to support the development of ALISS (an ALLIANCE managed digital service that enables people to find and share information about local resources that support health and wellbeing – aliss.org)
  • undertake user research to support other ALLIANCE digital health and care projects
  • support ALLIANCE colleagues in their understanding and application of user research thinking and techniques so the approach is embedded across our wider work

The successful applicant must be able to travel regularly throughout Scotland. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, as occasional additional hours and overnight stays will be required.

The role will involve undertake research, gathering information and evidence to inform the preparation of case studies and information packs and supporting the work of the Carer Voices team. We are looking for a self-starter with proven written ability.
