Tiphereth is a Camphill Community founded in 1993, situated at the foot of the Pentland Hills in Edinburgh. We are a charity delivering an outstanding care and support service based on equality and celebrating the unique potential of each individual. We have cultural and spiritual roots inspired by the works of Karl Koenig and Rudolf Steiner. Tiphereth provides quality professional Residential, Day Services and Social Enterprises for people with learning disabilities, autism and other support needs. Tiphereth Camphill In Edinburgh are seeking an experienced and creative Project Co-ordinator to deliver our grant funded Skills Development and Accreditation Project. The post holder will work within an established community that supports adults with learning disabilities and Autism to live, work and grow together.

Tiphereth is home to 50 people, who live in a blend of family homes and their own tenancies. We work together across a range of social enterprises and day service workshops with a focus on providing meaningful work activity.

‘Skills for growth’ embraces the idea of lifelong and contextual learning, the project, will work in partnership with a range of community resources to establish learning materials and learning settings which can be used to support participants to develop essential life skills as well as accredited qualifications through the SQA and Borders College.

The post holder will work with our Members, their existing support staff, and families to identify their future life goals and develop Individual Learning Plans for those that refer to the project.

Collaboration with our existing residential and day services are at the heart of the project.

The role of the Project Co-ordinator will be a combination of providing direct learning support to members and that of a ‘facilitator’, to aid existing support staff who can support applied learning, in natural settings.

Through ‘Skills for Growth’ aim to build confident, resilient adults ready to face the challenges of modern life.

Experience of teaching or other educational work in an assisted learning setting would be advantageous.

Sleepovers in our shared homes may be required and are paid at the Scottish Living Wage. This is currently £9.30 per hour. The waking night posts in our individual flats, follow set hours.

Team Leader – Garden Group

Tiphereth Day Service has an exciting and rare opportunity for a Team Leader who will lead, organise and manage the Garden group within the day service. The post holder will provide direct support to adults with learning disabilities and autism in the garden group, and will also lead and manage the staff team.

The work of the Garden Group is to maintain and cultivate an aesthetically pleasing garden through weeding, mowing, sowing; to grow vegetables, flowers and plants for use in Tiphereth and for the summer fair; and to be responsible for the local Green waste collection which is used to produce our compost.

Tiphereth - Camphill in Edinburgh provides a harmonious community where adults with learning disabilities and autism can live work and grow together. We merge residential care, with supported living tenancies and a vibrant support service to provide our members, with meaningful work activity to be the best they can be and respected for their own unique qualities and contributions.

The Supported Living Service supports ten members to live within their own homes. These are a combination of shared and single tenancies. With support provided on a needs led basis. Our members benefit from both personalised support and living as part of a community with others who call Tiphereth home.

The Role

We are currently recruiting a Supported Living Manager (Maternity Cover) Fixed term for 12 months. You will be responsible for the day to day management of our Supported Living Service, including operational delivery, leadership, financial management, staff management and communication of information to all stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role, line managing and supporting a team of dedicated co-workers to deliver excellent standards of care and support. You will provide the leadership, direction and decision making for the service assisted by two team leaders.

Forming part of the Tiphereth Management Group, led by the CEO, you will have responsibility to work collaboratively with a team of Service and Non-Service Managers to deliver the strategic direction for the Tiphereth community.

The Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time post (150hrs per 4 weeks) and you will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. This will involve occasional evening or weekend work.

The annual salary is £35,249.18 per annum. An additional on call payment is received for weeks on call.

We offer a generous 36 days paid holiday per annum inclusive of statutory and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

· Ensure that the Supported Living Service is delivered in line with the Health and Social Care standards.

· Lead the development of the service and delegate responsibilities to the Team Leaders as required.

· Identify areas of practice and service improvement and act accordingly to address any issues.

· Ensure the Supported Living Service contributes to and is included in wider community events and celebrations within Tiphereth.

· Undertake the rostering of staff with the Team Leaders to meet member’s support needs and provide on call support on a rotational basis.

· Provide regular and effective support and supervision to the team with an emphasis on reflective practice.

· Maintain excellent recording and reporting as set out by Tiphereth.

· Maintain good communication with members families, carers, partner organisations and stakeholders.

· Attend internal and external meetings as directed and agreed with the CEO.

· Participate in community celebrations and the cultural and spiritual life of Tiphereth.

· Contribute to creating a harmonious, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment in which to work.

Supported Living – Night Co-Worker (Full Time)

We are seeking a new staff member with the right values and skills to work in our community. The focus of the role is to support and nurture the personal growth and practical skills of individual members (service users) doing meaningful work within our day service.

We believe that in meaningful work there is real therapy for all.

The May group is the hub for general arts and crafts activities. Together with our members with learning disabilities we aim to produce unique items for our annual fairs and for our community. Our work mainly focuses on weaving, felting and papercraft. We value and often focus on crafts around seasonal changes and preparation for specific festivals.

Our work is based on doing and learning together. Ideally staff will bring skills in one of the craft areas, however this is not always essential as long as there is a willingness to learn and develop specific skills to be able to effectively support our main craft projects.

We work with a variety of people with different abilities, although most people require one-to-one level of support. At present due to the coronavirus much of our work is done in small, separated areas of the building to maintain safe working bubbles.

A key part of the role will be working with individuals with autism and complex needs. You will need to have an ability and enthusiasm for creative ideas that enable individuals to participate in the projects in a meaningful way whilst respecting individual needs and preferences.
