FST is the membership and development body for professional dance, opera and theatre in Scotland, bringing the sector together to speak with a collective voice, to share resources and expertise and to promote collaborative working.  FST represents a network of over 200 professional performing arts organisations and practitioners across Scotland, ranging from individual artists and producers, small scale companies, through to large venues and National Performing Companies.

Culture Counts is a network of 70 representative bodies from across the arts, heritage, and creative industries. It is a long-standing project hosted by the Federation of Scottish Theatre.

Culture Counts now seeks a confident and pro-active new Director to take overall project leadership of Culture Counts also taking responsibility for Public Affairs and Policy and Networks, Partnership and Planning.

With an annual budget of £170k, a part-time advocacy and events manager, steering group composed of 9 core members, plus a network of project contractors, Culture Counts works to protect and develop the culture sector for the common good.

Culture Counts is happy to discuss alternative working patterns and job-share proposals with prospective candidates.

Top job! Policy and Public Affairs Lead

The Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) is Scotland’s professional membership body for dance, opera and theatre.

We are currently seeking an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Lead to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer across several key areas of responsibility: research and policy, stakeholder and member engagement, advocacy planning and activity, strategy development and implementation and external communications.

Candidates should have relevant experience gained working in a similar role in a related area, for example, public affairs, advocacy, public relations, communications or Government affairs. They should have excellent relationship skills and strong societal and political acumen.

FST is offering this role as a full time, fixed-term position for one year with the possibility of extension, funding dependent. We also welcome job-share applications and proposals for other approaches to the role including part-time, secondment or consultancy. FST also supports and promotes flexible working.

The FST team are currently operating hybrid working, both from home and the office in Grindlay Street, Edinburgh. Appropriate equipment and IT support will be supplied to the successful candidate(s).

We are currently seeking an efficient and organised administrator to join our small, friendly staff team to assist in the provision of services to FST members, including the delivery of regular events and meetings, membership processes and general administration.

Candidates should be highly organised, with excellent administrative, IT and customer service skills, and be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritise their work. We promote flexible working and are offering this role as part of an existing job-share arrangement at 21 hours per week. The pro-rata salary is £12,000. The FST office is based in Edinburgh with the team currently operating a hybrid-working model.
