This is an exciting fixed term role that aims to build on the success of the Climate Fringe after COP26. The Climate Fringe platform aims to build and strengthen the climate movement by helping people to connect with different events and organisations. This role would suit someone who is passionate about climate action, movement building and the role events can have in creating change, can create a buzz through communications and who enjoys bringing people together.
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, a coalition of over 60 civil society organisations in Scotland campaigning together on climate change, is seeking a new Co-Chair.
This is a voluntary position and the new Co-Chair will work in close partnership with a Co-Chair already identified.
The appointment of a Co-Chair will be for three years in the first instance. The successful candidate will initially be supported by other board members and their co-chair who will already be in post.
Our Co-Chairs will work with our Board, and our expanding membership, to deepen our Coalition’s influence at a critical and exciting time for climate action in Scotland.

Criteria
As Co-Chair of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, you should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
The successful candidate should be willing to spend time on SCCS-related work for 2-4 days per month. Some of this time should be during the normal working week to accommodate Board and other meetings.
To perform this role, you’ll need a rather special set of qualities. Chief amongst them is an informed passion and energy for the action needed to tackle the climate emergency. Beyond this, SCCS is a member-led coalition and as such requires cooperation and consensus building from all involved but
particularly from its Chair. In addition, we are looking for a Chair who will:
Attend meetings with the Scottish Government, MSPs and other external bodies.

The successful candidate for the Chair of SCCS should be able to demonstrate the following skills and
experience:
The successful candidate should be willing to work on SCCS related work for a minimum of 3-4 days a month, of which at least two days should be during the normal working week to accommodate board and other meetings.
