The EIS is Scotland’s largest and most influential trade union and professional organisation for teachers and lecturers, with almost 65,000 members working in all education sectors and at all career stages. An opportunity has arisen to join our Education and Equality Team, in the newly developed post of Equality and Learning Development Coordinator. The role of the Equality Learning and Development Coordinator will be to coordinate and deliver high-quality equality-related learning programmes currently offered by the EIS Education and Equality Department, such as the EIS PACT Project and Scottish Union Learning Fair Work, Leadership and Equality funded learning programmes, as well as to deliver bespoke learning sessions, including for EIS Informal Equality Networks and local networks.

The coordination and delivery of these learning programmes is part of the wider EIS Equality strategy that aims to:

The post will be principally based in the EIS Headquarters in Edinburgh, while offering a high degree of flexibility over the location at which work is carried out, subject to the overall requirements of the EIS and its members.

The EIS welcomes applications from all qualified candidates. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented within the trade union and Education workforces, including Black Asian and Minority Ethnic, LGBT, and disabled candidates. Applications to work part time or on a job share basis are welcome. If you would like to have an informal conversation about the role, prior to applying or prior to interview, please contact National Officer Selma Augestad on saugestad@eis.org.uk.
