Dementia Advisor (West Dunbartonshire)

A rare opportunity has arisen to become the new Dementia Advisor for the West Dunbartonshire locality. This is an exciting role in which the successful applicant will be able to play a key part in making West Dunbartonshire a truly dementia-friendly community. You will provide a range of resources, activities, information and advice to people who are living with dementia, their families and carers and to the wider community. Your support will help people to live well with dementia. You will assist people with dementia to exercise their rights, to have their voices heard and help facilitate meaningful engagement with local policy makers. You will work in close collaboration with your Alzheimer Scotland staff colleagues and volunteers as well as developing constructive partnerships with other local professionals and organisations.

The successful applicant will have a positive approach to dementia. You will be flexible, creative and innovative in your approach. You will be sensitive and compassionate with the ability to support people in times of difficulty or distress. You will be an excellent communicator who can work effectively both with individuals and with groups. You will have a positive approach to your own continued professional development and a willingness to participate in relevant training. A relevant qualification and previous experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.

Post Diagnostic Dementia Link Worker - East Dunbartonshire

We need an enthusiastic, skilled and knowledgeable practitioner to join our team.

The Post Diagnostic Dementia Link Worker will be based within the Community Older People’s Mental Health Team at Woodlands Resource Centre in Kirkintilloch and will support people with dementia across East Dunbartonshire.

The Post Diagnostic Dementia Link Worker, in partnership with members of a multi-disciplinary team, will support individuals with dementia, their families and friends from diagnosis onwards. Implementing Alzheimer Scotland’s 5 Pillars Model of post diagnostic support, you will provide person-centred support and information to people with dementia and their families. The work you do will enable people with dementia and their families to build resilience, plan and prepare for the future, develop coping strategies and subsequently enable them to live well with their diagnosis. The successful applicant will have the ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding role whilst providing high quality support.

National Administrator (SDWG & NDCAN)

Scottish Dementia Working Group (SDWG) and National Carers Action Network (NDCAN) are national campaigning and awareness raising groups whose members all have a diagnosis of dementia (SDWG) or who care for a person who has a dementia diagnosis (NDCAN). Both groups are the independent voice of people with dementia and carers within Alzheimer Scotland.

We are looking for a part-time National Administrator (28 hours) to support, develop and enable the SDWG and the NDCAN team to carry out their responsibilities. These responsibilities include and are not limitless to; being the first point of contact for members of the public and people with dementia making enquiries to the team, supporting colleagues with the arranging of committee and general meetings and taking detailed minutes and producing reports for distribution to members of both groups.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role is required.
