Support Worker

Bethany Christian Trust’s Edinburgh Housing Support service offers accommodation and support to individuals who have registered as homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless within Edinburgh.

We are looking for a support worker to deliver Housing Support to individuals across Edinburgh. You will have a proven record as a team player with excellent communication skills; you will have experience and knowledge of the service user group and their surrounding issues. We welcome candidates with lived experience of these issues. Competence in the use of Microsoft office tools is essential. An SVQ 3 in Social Care, Promoting Independence or equivalent as listed by SSSC as appropriate for a ‘Housing Support Worker’ is desirable coupled with experience of working with vulnerable and homeless people.

The Fundraising and Marketing manager is responsible for raising funds to support the work of Bethany Christian Trust. The post holder is also responsible for the branding, marketing and promotion of Bethany Christian Trust both locally and nationally to ensure appropriate support for all Bethany’s work with homeless and vulnerable people. The post holder will also be responsible for leading, managing and continuously developing the fundraising and marketing teams.

The essential qualifications and characteristics that will be required of the person undertaking the role are:

•Educated to degree standard or equivalent

•Skills, and proven experience, in the strategic development of fundraising and marketing activities.

•Project Management and Events Management experience

•Experience of fundraising and a member of the Institute of Fundraising

•Proven people management skills to lead the team.

•Knowledge and experience of financial assessments and review of fundraising costs and income generated.

You will provide specialism practice, guidance, support, direction and supervision to the Individual Giving Fundraisers and act on behalf of the Fundraising Marketing Manager where required, plan and deliver Fundraising and activities.

You will oversee and develop lifetime relationships with individual donors to Bethany, focussing on major gifts and legacies. This post will develop strong relationships with Major gift donors and develop strategy for increased Philanthropic partnerships.

Recovery and Resettlement Worker - Community Support East

For the past three years, Bethany Christian Trust have been delivering a community-based addiction recovery program in Scotland. As the demand for this service grows, we are looking for a candidate who will lead, develop and deliver Bethany’s Bridge to Freedom program within a group setting. A significant part of the role will also be to facilitate and develop recovery and resettlement work in partnership with churches and other organisations around the Edinburgh and Midlothian area including Moredun and Gorebridge.

It is essential that you have experience in facilitating, planning and working with vulnerable people in a community setting. A qualification in Social Work, Social Care, Community Education or related discipline is essential, or a willingness to work towards such a qualification.

Link Up Community Co-ordinator (Leith)

Link Up (known locally as Inspiring Leith), run by Inspiring Scotland and hosted by Bethany Christian Trust in Leith, is an innovative programme exploring a new approach to investing in and harnessing the capacity of local people and communities in Scotland. The programme focuses on the existing skills, knowledge and interests of individuals in the local community, and aims to generate an environment where people can come together to create and participate in new activities and experiences.

Link Up aims to build new social connections in the community while strengthening those that exist, along with developing the self-esteem and capacity of the people involved.

After seven years in post, the lead worker is moving on and we are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced community development professional to build on successes and continue the development of the project going forward. Groups supported to date include community cinema, archery, music, walking and gardening

Ideally you will have experience in community engagement, developing/supporting and facilitating community-led projects in an assets-based manner; empowering people/groups to develop ideas, and nurture community activism. This role will focus on working with a wide range of individuals, from children to older people, from a variety of social backgrounds and providing individual support when required. You will also supervise a Community Development worker overseeing the project with yourself.

Candidates will require experience in facilitating, planning and working with vulnerable people in a community setting. A qualification in Social Work, Social Care, Community Education or related discipline is essential.

The Care Van Co-ordinator manages the Care Van volunteers from recruitment to training and coordinating a rota for volunteer teams in order to ensure continuity of service. The Care Van Co-ordinator ensures Health and Safety standards are met including Food Hygiene and van maintenance, organises paperwork for accidents involving the Care Van, its volunteers and service users.
