We are seeking an accomplished Deputy Operations Manager to lead our business, HR, policy enhancement, and staff development initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in business management, policy evolution, and employee growth. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in aligning our policies and staff capabilities with organisational goals. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate both practical experience and preferred qualifications in business management.
The Deputy Operation Manager will work within a feminist framework on the effects of domestic abuse and apply this understanding to all aspects of the organisation’s policies and procedures, good practice guidelines, and standards.
The Deputy Operations Manager will be familiar with risk management and will identify, assess, and effectively intervene to control threats to the organisations administrative systems and areas of service provision which may arise from a variety of sources for example, the impact on service provision where there is staff reduction due to funding loss; technology issues, accidents, strategic management error and any other issues arising.
At a strategic level, along with the Head of Operations, work in partnership with the wider Women’s Aid network and violence against women sector to contribute to local and national campaigns that further the aims of Glasgow East Women’s Aid and the job role.
Participate in national and local forums relative to the job role, facilitate training, conduct awareness raising sessions to raise the profile of the organisation at a strategic level relative to Glasgow East Womens Aid.
The role of Children & Young People’s Outreach Worker is to offer support to children and young people (CYP) living within the North East of Glasgow who have or are experiencing domestic abuse. GEWA is seeking an individual with a working knowledge of domestic abuse to support this vulnerable group of service users.
Glasgow East Women’s Aid is a small charity delivering a range of high-quality services to prevent and respond to domestic abuse against women and children living within the North East of Glasgow. The role of the Women’s Worker is to support women who are experiencing domestic abuse. GEWA is seeking an individual with a working knowledge of domestic abuse to support this vulnerable group of service users.
Job Specific Responsibilities
1. To consult with manager in relation to local Violence against Women Implementation Group
2. To consult with manager in relation to local Violence Against Women Practitioner Group.
3. To identify inconsistencies (if any) in agency provision to ensure a positive and consistent service by identifying required change through the provision of training to statutory and third sector organisations.
4. To deliver raising awareness sessions to college staff and pupils throughout the geographical area.
5. To provide GBV workshops within universities and colleges in the Glasgow area.
6. To facilitate agency visits to promote an understand the impact and indicators of domestic abuse.
7. To attend the Fearless consortium meetings.
8. To attend the Citywide Forum Steering Group.
9. To facilitate three events over one year – International Women’s Day, annual event (around June/July time) and one for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Against Women and Girls.
10. Promote the aims of the organisation using local and national media such as newspapers, radio, and television.
11. In depth knowledge of local and national policy and political agenda relating to social care
12. To work in collaboration with third sector and partnership agencies to raise the awareness of Domestic Abuse.
13. To co-facilitate a focus group with young girls taking the lead on developing and designing flash cards, highlighting early signs of abusive behavior.
14. To attend MARAC meetings.
15. To represent women and young girls at statutory meetings if necessary.
16. To identify any gaps in service provision.
17. To inform policies by making recommendations to community, voluntary and statutory agencies.
18. To help publicise a multi-agency information and training pack.
19. To organise and provide training on the impact of gender-based violence on individual, families, and society.
20. To plan and facilitate unpaid worker Training (UPW) for GEWA.
21. To encourage agencies to record the extent of domestic abuse
22. To co-ordinate and collate annual stakeholder surveys for the organisation which will inform strategy and development of GEWA.

GEWA is seeking an individual with a working knowledge of domestic abuse to support this vulnerable group of service users.
Please note that this post is currently funded up to 31st October 2022, with the view that funding is available for a further 2 years
