The After School Club offers childcare for children of primary school age up to 14, attending Loanhead, St Margaret’s, Roslin, Bilston and Paradykes Primary Schools. We also have provision for S1 pupils at all clubs. Places in the holiday club can be taken by any child who registers with us. The LASC welcomes all children and parents, including those with additional support needs. The setting will require prior notice for children with additional support needs to enable us to adequately meet their needs.

LASC is a high-profile, award winning and successful child and social care charity within Midlothian having grown from strength to strength since its inauguration 28 years ago. Our current CEO who was the founder and pace setter of the organisation has decided to take a well-deserved break and retire from her role leaving a fantastic opportunity for a suitable candidate to move the organisation through its next chapters.

With six settings, 100 personnel, and 600 registered children aged 3 months – 14 years of age as well as a young adult services, a community centre and charity shop, LASC is highly regarded in achieving its objectives within its sector of a high standard of care and support for families.

The successful candidate will be required to evidence competence across many of the following areas:

Track record – of successfully heading a similar size charitable organisation ideally within child-care and adult services, or able to demonstrate a career advancement in increased role.

Leadership – Lead from the front and set the pace for the expectations within the organisation.

Strategic – Be strategic in thinking and retain a focus on end goals

Self-Aware – Be confident of your abilities and instil confidence in others.

Fundraising – Demonstrate a track record of success with funding bids.

Financial Management – Be financially astute and have a clear understanding of financial management and legal compliance.

Communication – Align to strong principles of communication across all stakeholders and staff team

Reputation – Understand the importance of continuing to develop and strengthen our reputation with all stakeholders.

Governance – Understand the legal requirements of governance of a charity as well as Health and Safety, Data Protection, Safeguarding and Business Continuity.
