Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for Scotland’s museums and galleries. We support a sector of 449 museums and galleries, through strategic investment, workforce development, advice and advocacy. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our work to clearly communicate the positive value and impact of the museums and galleries sector. You will do this by developing and leading advocacy campaigns and activity that make a strong case for Scotland’s museums and galleries sector to influence a range of audiences and stakeholders including Government Officials, Government Ministers, MSPs, relevant Committees, relevant funders and other key organisations and influencers.
Politically astute, the Senior Advocacy and Public Affairs Manager possesses strong communication and influencing skills, using information, research and data to build a political and public case for the sector and inform evidence-based advocacy messaging and activity.
Being able to navigate and effectively communicate complex issues that implicate the wider culture and heritage sector in Scotland will be essential. This is especially vital as parts of our sector face profound budget challenges, many navigating rising operational costs and workforce pressures while also striving to adapt to ensure relevance to communities and users. As national development body, MGS needs to advocate clearly and effectively on their behalf.

Objectives
The Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS) owns the Museum of Scottish Railways and the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway and manages the core collection that has been Recognised as being of National Significance through the Scottish Government’s Recognition Scheme. Most of the collection is owned by the Scottish Railway Museum Collections Trust (SRMCT) and SRPS manages it on behalf of the owner. Visitors to the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway can see parts of the collection and other rolling stock in operation on the railway and visit the Museum of Scottish Railways.
The post holder will work with our collection to enhance continually its presentation, documentation, storage and use of a searchable online collections database. There will also be a requirement to work closely with the Board and with a team of volunteers. The post will be supervised by an appropriate member of the Board of the SRPS.

As a Bike for Good work colleague, you will be part of our vision for a healthy and inclusive environment where everyone in the community benefits from more people cycling. Your role is to advance our Young People programme successfully.
Your primary responsibilities are to develop, coordinate and deliver a programme of cycling and bike mechanics activities for young people aged 14 to 21. The Training & Employability Coordinator (Young People) will also be responsible for the delivery of our weekly Fix Your Own Bike sessions. You will be required to collect data and participant feedback and prepare reports as part of your role.
The Women and Non-binary Coordinator will oversee the successful delivery of the specific projects and cycle training for this group.
The post holder will directly support women and non-binary people with their training, they will also engage with community groups and other minority groups.
They will also manage the coordination of training in a wide range of settings which will include on-road cycle training, group rides and e-cargo bike training. Developing strong partnerships with individuals, and community-based services are key to this role.
Provan Hall is an A listed medieval building located in Auchinlea Park, which sits at the heart of Easterhouse. The building has undergone a £2m restoration by Glasgow City Council that will safeguard this important heritage asset as a new hub for heritage learning and engagement, and a visitor gateway to the Seven Lochs Wetland Park.
Following its restoration, Provan Hall is managed and operated by the Provan Hall Community Management Trust. The aim of the Trust is to engage and inspire local people to value and take part in caring for their local heritage. We aim to provide opportunities that connect local people and visitors to Provan Hall through inclusive and creative means of heritage interpretation and activities.
Provan Hall Community Management Trust were awarded a grant by the National Lottery Community Awards for All fund to initiate a youth programme at Provan Hall. Following on from the success of this project, we have been awarded a grant by The Graham Trust and The Robertson Trust. These grant enables us to focus a programme of engagement with young people aged 5 – 24 across Easterhouse, Glasgow. The postholder will coordinate a programme of activities for young people to inspire enthusiasm and develop participation in our organisation. The post holder will further develop our current connections with local youth groups and initiate new ones across the wider area, furthering young people’s involvement in Provan Hall and our organisation. The role will include coordinating with our project partners, developing youth forums, liaising with freelance professionals, staff and supervising volunteers. This is a maternity leave post initially covering 9 months of maternity leave but may extend to 12 months.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking to appoint two part time coordinators, each working for five half days each week so that we have someone in our offices throughout the working week. We would expect both Coordinators to spend time in the offices at Gorgie Church and Palmerston Place Church each week and sometimes in the office at Saltyard Café too.
Our Coordinators will often be the first point of contact with our church and must therefore be fully aligned to our Christian ethos and values so we are looking for special people with a strong and lively Christian faith. [This is a Genuine Occupational Requirement in terms of the Equality Act 2010]
Both Coordinators will share responsibility for dealing with callers at the door and handling incoming post, email and phone calls.

We have an exciting part-time, job share opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team in Big Noise Govanhill (Glasgow).
You will support the Head of Centre, and as part of the Big Noise Govanhill Senior Team, to ensure high quality procedures, processes and operational functions are embedded to maximise the success of the programme. A skilled project manager, you will also have experience of working with communities and volunteers, and will have a passion for music, along a belief in the benefits that a social programme such as Big Noise / Sistema Scotland can have.
This is a permanent part-time job share post, working 21 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, with flexibility to work either 9am-5pm, or 10am-6pm.
