About Us
Bridging the Gap (Glasgow) is a Glasgow wide community charity established in 1998 working to ‘bridge the gap’ in communities, removing barriers to participate in activities whilst working towards the reduction of social and economic inequality and stigma.
Our vision is ‘Where people grow, thrive, fully participate in life and are free from social and economic inequality’.
We aim to reduce loneliness, develop community peer support, cohesion and resilience whilst reducing poverty and stigma. We do this by delivering a varied programme of activities and events in collaboration with key stakeholders.
We are a registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee.
Commitment
The board meets quarterly, either face-to-face, via video chat, or as a hybrid of the two.
The duration of Board meetings is usually no longer than 1.5 hours.
All relevant papers are forwarded on a reasonable timescale, either via email or posted in hard copy.
Being a trustee is a voluntary role but Bridging the Gap (Glasgow) will cover relevant out-of-pocket travel and other expenses that would allow you to attend meetings.
Aside from the board meeting, additional time consideration should be given to allow for time to read through relevant papers, follow up on any action points, and may involve attending occasional additional meetings, events, or strategy days.

About Tripod
Tripod is a small, independent, non-profit workers’ cooperative based in Edinburgh. We build the power of social movements tackling the root causes of injustice in Scotland and beyond. As a collective of facilitators and educators, we connect people and develop skills to embody the liberated futures we’re fighting for. We seed active solidarity and strengthen strategic collaboration within and across movements.
You can find out more about Tripod on our website. We’re in the process of developing our 2025-2027 strategy, you can find a sneak-peak on our blog.
About the Role
You will be responsible for coordinating our Consultation, Collaboration & Training (CCT) programme, which is Tripod’s income generating arm. As a non-profit, we offer training, facilitation, and other support on request to funded organisations using a sliding scale, to enable us to offer support to grassroots groups and movements with fewer financial resources. Due to high demand, one of our areas of focus for the coming years will be anti-racism training for white and mixed-race teams. As a worker-led cooperative, each member of staff also takes responsibility for Tripod’s smooth organisational functioning as we move towards our purpose together.
Co-Directorship
This role will involve an interim period of 8 months. This will be an opportunity for us to review how we have been working together and decide if you and Tripod are a good fit. This will also enable us to decide together if you should become a Full Member of the workers' cooperative which would involve being legally registered as a Director and participating fully in overall strategic and organisational decision making.
The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust (SSPDT) is a national charity that supports and partners a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and small and large charities in Scotland. You can read more about our work at sspdt.org.uk
Whilst the SSPDT is in a position to award grants to support youth music-making programmes, we are aware that volunteer fundraisers in communities often find it hard to find match funding because of a lack of time and knowledge. Although they run excellent programmes, they are much less likely to be able to secure funding than their professional, paid, fundraising counterparts, who are employed by larger, better funded organisations.
This new fundraising role will improve equality of access to funding for a range of volunteer groups across Scotland. By so doing, the role will expand opportunities for young people to learn instrumental music, and to make music and perform with others, building confidence, teamwork, resilience, perseverance and other important skills for life, learning and work.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, energetic individual who enjoys innovation, coaching, and has an ey for strategy as well as detail. We are a small, friendly team working in lovely office in central Edinburgh as well as remotely.
