Want to help Scotland respond to the climate crisis? Excited by the thought of being part of making Scotland clean, green and sustainable?

Scotland has declared a climate emergency to tackle the global climate crisis and in response to this, we are extending our Climate Ready Classrooms initiative to secondary schools across Scotland. Supported by the Scottish Government, this 18-month initiative will help pupils and teachers to develop their understanding of climate change, its causes and potential impacts. If you are passionate about tackling climate change, have a flair for presenting, understand climate change science and education policy & practice, then we may have the ideal job for you - we’re looking for two Education Development Officers to join us. Interested? Please read on.

Keep Scotland Beautiful is the charity that campaigns, acts and educates on a range of local, national and global environmental issues to change behaviour and improve the quality of people’s lives and the places they care for.

Our Climate Ready Classrooms project prepares young people to join a national network of carbon literate ambassadors who plan and act on climate change issues within their own schools and communities. It is a one-day accredited Carbon Literacy training course for secondary schools which has been designed for young people aged 14–17 years, along with their teachers, head teachers, CLD practitioners and youth and children’s workers.

The post requires an understanding of Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability and current climate change policy. It also requires the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences and develop sustainable development education initiatives.
