This is a unique opportunity to enhance your CV while doing worthwhile work as a member of the world’s leading independent conservation organisation.

At WWF Scotland we are looking to recruit two interns to help coordinate our partnerships and outreach work for Earth Hour 2020. WWF’s Earth Hour focuses the world’s attention on our brilliant planet and how to protect it. It’s a unique annual event, whereby hundreds of millions of people come together on the same night, all across the world. This coming year Earth Hour 2020 falls on Saturday 28 March 2020. The campaign engages the mass public to create a positive force for change and aims to keep climate change and environmental issues on the media agenda.

Join us and you will develop the Earth Hour 2020 strategy and delivery plan. This will include developing toolkits and other resources for key audiences including local authorities, businesses, public bodies, landmarks and individuals. You will support engagement with existing and potential partners and stakeholders, such as local authorities, businesses, MSPS and community groups. You will also assist with partner’s PR, press, digital and social media activity as well as help coordinate events and carry out general team admin. Important will be the ability to contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of Earth Hour 2020 too.

As an intern with WWF Scotland we will look to develop your skills in project management, partnerships and community engagement, as well as offer the chance to gain experience working with a leading global NGO.

We would expect you to demonstrate interest in or experience of campaigning or community outreach, particularly on climate, food or environmental issues. Good at building relationships you will have experience of working with external stakeholders too. Highly organised, you will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable producing content for diverse audiences across web, email and social channels. Good at problem solving you will be flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends including Saturday 28 March 2020. You will also be able to show an enthusiasm for our mission and values. Knowledge of Scotland and its institutions, political structures, culture and environment would be an advantage.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

At WWF-UK we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment, where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and we offer a range of benefits to encourage a work life balance.

Application notes

If you would value the chance to gain valuable insight into how a major international NGO working at the forefront of global conservation operates, please visit our website to complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV and a cover letter.

Close date: Sunday 1 December.

We recommend you use your cover letter to tell us what attracts you to this role with WWF Scotland and to demonstrate how you meet each individual point of the personal specification (skills, knowledge, experience), including specific examples from your career or life experience.

We do not necessarily expect applicants to meet all of the person specification. If you do not have all of the stated experience but believe you have something to bring to our organisation, we would love to hear from you.

This is an internship and learning opportunity, therefore we will consider potential as well as current ability in our selection process.

Interviews will be held at our office in Edinburgh from Monday 9th December. The office is fully wheelchair accessible.
