Role

LEAP Sports Scotland is seeking a new Chair

LEAP Sports Scotland celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The organisation became a charity in 2012, employed its first member of staff in 2013, and has established itself as Scotland’s LGBTI sports charity. LEAP Sports has gained a strong reputation and is now looking for a new Chair to join us on the next phase of our journey.

The role:

The Chair of Trustees will be responsible for leading the LEAP Sports board and charity, overseeing the successful achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives; overseeing the governance and compliance framework; and championing the continued growth and development of our profile and work.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Is an experienced and proven leader
  • Has a strong understanding of governance and compliance structures
  • Has a demonstrable passion for and belief in the work that we do
  • Possesses strong communication and ambassadorial skills

No prior experience as a third sector Chair is required, but understanding of how charities or small organisations work would be beneficial.

There are four in-person board meetings per year, 3 of these in Glasgow and one elsewhere in Scotland. The Chair is expected to be available for some charity, network and fundraiser events on an ad hoc basis.

Please note, we are particularly keen to encourage applicants from Women, Black Minority and Ethnic, disabled, migrant, and other backgrounds currently underrepresented within leadership roles in the third sector.

If you would like an informal discussion, please contact Hugh Torrance via hugh@leapsports.org
