Youth Sessional Workers

We are looking for skilled and experienced Sessional Youth and Children’s Workers who are passionate about engaging with children and young people and about supporting them to make progress on our outcomes.

We are currently looking to recruit a Youth and Children’s Development Officer. The purpose of the job is to develop purposeful links with South West Edinburgh based black and minority ethnic (BME) children and young people (7 - 17 years) increasing opportunities for C&YP to have positive experiences; locally, city-wide and nationally in order to reduce isolation, disadvantage and the achievement gap experienced by many children living in Wester Hailes and surrounding areas.

The post is part-time (28 hours per week) and is contracted to 31 March 2027. You will be enthusiastic and motivated individual who will contribute to the development of our work with children and young people.

We are embedded in neighbourhoods, many of which fall into the lowest 10% on the SIMD. Our mission is to address the causes and effects of racism, break down barriers, and support local individuals and group’s active participation in civic life to improve their quality of life and opportunities. We act on the causes and effects of racism by promoting race equality, raising cultural awareness, and fostering stronger, more resilient communities. SCOREscotland partners with people and organisations to address the causes of racism, providing support to families and young people struggling with its effects. Our aim is to strengthen communities so that people can take an active and full part in community life in Scotland. Our small team is based in Wester Hailes reaching through and beyond this community with both centre based activities and online engagement.

Several of the SCOREscotland’s current Board members have supported the organisation for several years and in support of the organisation’s strength and continuity we are looking to recruit new members.

The Board of Directors is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight and a constructive challenge to the SCOREscotland’s Management Team. We are currently looking for Non-Executive Directors who share our passion for supporting community strengthening and inclusion and ideally bring any of the following skills:
