This is a finance manager role with a difference. This new role will have a particular focus on our voluntary income. Our voluntary income is varied encompassing areas such as legacies, trusts, sponsored events, gift aid, community fundraising and in memory fundraising. These income strands totalling over £8.5mn per annum support the organisation in providing our vital supports.

We are seeking applications from individuals with at least 4 years’ experience of working in a varied finance or fundraising finance role within a complex organisation and who possess the skills to take on the tasks outlined in the job description.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience of working in the voluntary sector and managing and supporting high value voluntary income streams.

The role will manage a small team of finance assistants and provide supervision and development to the team and workloads.

You will have had significant exposure to the full finance function and will be a strong communicator and able to balance competing priorities ensuring routine workload along side ad-hoc tasks, analysis and reporting is completed to a high standard within deadlines.

As a Centre Activities Co-ordinator, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering our brain health and dementia support programs at our new centre in Aberdeen.

This unique approach is inspired by the pioneer, Alois Alzheimer, who first identified the brain disease we now recognise as the leading cause of dementia. By building a range of engaging and supportive services in the heart of their community, the Centre Activities Co-ordinator will support people to access:

Advice - our expert advisors can offer one-to-one help with anything from building cognitive resilience, to managing money matters and legal issues.

Listening - we offer places to be heard, whatever the question or concern, whenever help is needed.

Opportunities - to connect, learn and share with others in a similar situation.

Information - on all stages of the brain health journey, whether someone is worried about their brain health or living and caring well with dementia.

Support - everyone is welcome in our Centres, where those affected by dementia can feel safe with trusted staff who understand what they’re going through.

As a Centre Activities Co-Ordinator, you'll collaborate closely with the Centre Manager to create a comprehensive program of activities that align with our ALOIS principles. You'll play a key role in liaising with stakeholders from Health and Social Care, NHS, and the wider community to enhance service delivery and raise awareness about brain health.

Greet and welcome visitors to the centre, ensuring they sign in the visitor’s book and informing the relevant member of staff of their arrival, receive and transfer telephone calls and take brief messages, when necessary, dependent on the needs of the centre, as directed by the Centre Manager.

The Centre Activity Coordinator will support the daily running of the Centre, being a local point of contact for Centre visitors, and carrying out the associated administrative tasks. Produce a monthly programme detailing the services available, as outlined by the Centre Manager, and promote this widely across the networks.

Collate salary information (if applicable) and ensure that details are properly authorised and with the Payroll Administrator by the due date each month. Receive and bank Key responsibilities donations and fundraised monies and follow the correct procedure for dealing with these.

Your exceptional organisational skills will be put to use as you plan, review, and evaluate the activities within the Centres. With a focus on continuous improvement, you'll ensure that individuals accessing our services have a welcoming and inclusive experience, where their concerns are heard and understood.

Your fundraising experience will be stretched to new limits to ensure all fundraising engagement activity leads with a story, along with an emotive and meaningful exchange. You will understand the need to move away from transactional fundraising and be able to help us secure and develop supporter-led strategic partnerships, whilst supporting the overall team to embed this approach throughout the organisation, particularly amongst our locality colleagues.

We are looking for someone who is naturally optimistic, with a can-do attitude. Applicants are required to demonstrate results, whilst thriving within a fast-paced and varied environment. The role will be to provide a safe and secure environment in our two main offices along with a flexible, proactive and expert level of executive support to our Director of Policy & Practice and senior team whilst engaging widely with internal and external stakeholders. This means you’ll be interacting closely and getting involved with every part of what we do here at Alzheimer Scotland. You will oversee the running of two busy offices with the support of the admin team in a varied role where no two days will be the same.

Working to objectives set out within our overall Strategy and Quality Management System, you will be responsible for all aspects of office management by creating and maintaining a safe and secure working environment for all staff based at our main offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, ensuring that day-to-day tasks are carried out to the highest level and that all visitors and callers to the premises are dealt with in a professional manner. The role is also responsible for providing comprehensive and efficient executive support to the Director of Policy & Practice. This is a wide ranging role which needs a high level of initiative to prioritise requests and ensure timeous response to enquiries.

The role is likely to be based in our office at 81 Oxford Street, Glasgow – but you will be expected to have a presence in both premises over the course of the week.

About You

Being a great administrator goes without saying but you will also be a strong communicator with a high level of integrity and someone who exercises tact and diplomacy, delivers to deadlines and takes real pride in the accuracy and quality of your work.

You must be highly organised, work with autonomy, have great attention to detail with excellent IT skills, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
