Fife Gingerbread supports lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families across Fife. We help those who need help most, and give a voice to those who are not heard. Our ethos is Engage - Support - Progress, working holistically and at a pace that suits the parent and family. In 2017 we reached 30 years of helping families, in that time going from a grassroots organisation to the largest independent families and children support charity in Fife. We actively seek and plug gaps in local provision through various projects, with alleviating child poverty at the core of our work.

What You’ll Do

As Team Leader for our Early Years team, you'll have a multi-faceted role. You will be the steward of our family support services, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed our targets, and our services are of the highest quality. As a people manager, you will be the mentor and guide, nurturing our exceptional team and instilling a strengths-based and coaching approach. Our Partnerships will thrive under your watchful eye and as our representative in various external forums, you'll forge and solidify beneficial collaborations that will further our mission. You'll also wear the hat of a Leader, playing an integral role in our leadership team, steering us forward in line with our strategic objectives. Lastly, as an agent of change, you will keep a finger on the pulse of the ever-evolving environment, seeking opportunities to amplify the issues families face and actively implementing actionable solutions.

What We Need

We're looking for someone deeply empathetic, with prior experience in supporting lone parents and families in need. An excellent understanding of early years, child development, and child poverty is essential. You'll bring to the table your exceptional team management, organisational, and project management skills. Ideally, you'd be educated to a minimum of SCQF Level 8 or have equivalent leadership experience.

What We Need

To excel in this role, a solid grasp of Child Wellbeing, Poverty, and Whole Family Support is key. Your hands-on experience engaging volunteers and aiding families facing diverse challenges is vital. Navigating intricate issues, maintaining strong organisational skills, and fostering clear communication are essential for effective teamwork and interdisciplinary partnerships. Your ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, and employ Microsoft Office tools is crucial. Additionally, a minimum education level of SCQF Level 7 or equivalent in a related field is expected. For added flexibility, a valid driving license and access to a vehicle are advantageous due to travel across Fife, however accommodations can be discussed during interviews.

Dad & Me Early Years Project Support Worker

Role Specific Responsibilities

Dad & Me Project:

  • To encourage new dads to have an active role in their child’s early years
  • Encourage new dads to learn and develop an understanding of their developing child’s needs from conception to three years.

Outcomes:

  • Children will benefit from having positive experienced with their fathers
  • Fathers will have an increased understanding of their child’s needs and improved ability to parent
  • By attending groups dads and their children will have increased opportunities to socialise interact and build friendships through interactive play.
  • An excellent understanding of the need for dad’s to be part of their child’s life and the importance of strong health bonding and attachment.

The post holder will have a qualification in a related discipline to a minimum SCQF Level 7, such as SVQ 3 Health and Social Care or the HNC Social Science, HNC Child Care and Education and together with demonstrable experience, also the ability and willingness to complete further training and qualification as identified.
