About the role

The Information Events Coordinator will deliver our information events programme consisting of face-to-face and online events hosted by the team and held throughout the UK, developing the strategy for the programme and implementing event activity with the aim to increase participation and attendance.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the events, including marketing and promotion, as well as logistics and resourcing. You’ll be required to attend several weekend events throughout the year so should be able to travel across the UK as needed.

We’re looking for an experienced administrator with a high level of communication skills to provide support for our Clinical Practice Team. You’ll have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail as well as good IT and organisational skills. Knowledge of using a CRM database would be advantage. About the role

The Clinical Practice Administrator has responsibility for all administration relating to Myeloma UK healthcare professional programmes and online materials and resources. You’ll be the first point of contact for programme or resource enquiries, processing and recording these on the Raiser’s Edge database, keeping the database up to date. You’ll be responsible for the preparation and logistics management of all external conferences and events attended by the team, ensuring conference details are delivered in good time for these events.

As Peer Service Coordinator you will facilitate and develop the existing volunteer-led Peer Services, the Peer Buddy service and our discussion forum. These services draw on the lived experiences of volunteers to provide bespoke support to people affected by myeloma and its related conditions.

Our Peer Buddy service matches volunteers with those seeking support to facilitate one-to-one support. Our Discussion Forum uses volunteers to answer questions and share experiences via an online, written platform.

This role manages, supervises and develops volunteers to provide these wellbeing-centred services. It will also involve assessing the suitability of people referring into the Buddy service.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and people-focused person, who understands the power of sharing experiences.

Ideally, we’d like you to have experience of volunteer management, including recruiting, training, managing, and supervising/mentoring a diverse range of people. You will need the ability to understand and meet training and development needs of volunteers.

We take a user involvement focus In service delivery, so experience of working in services which deliver positive outcomes for patients, carers and/or families living with health conditions and involving them in the process would be helpful.

You will need excellent communication skills along with a high level of organisational and IT skills.

You’ll be working alongside our Senior Digital and Print Designer and one other Digital and Print Designer to produce design and media requirements for the charity.

You’ll get to work on a wide range of projects; from producing patient information booklets and creating visual identities for fundraising projects, to supporting on some exciting big projects we have this year including our RHS Chelsea Garden and our website refreshes.

The role of Support Group Coordinator is to develop and implement the Myeloma UK Support Group programme in line with the organisation’s overall strategy, building relationships with the Support Group Leaders to strengthen ties with the organisation.

The post holder will be the first point of contact within the organisation for all Support Group enquiries and will have strong leadership and communication skills which are collaborative, and team focused. They will be responsible for working with local groups and other local network partners to increase the reach and impact of Myeloma UK, ensuring that support groups operate in line with quality standards and follow Myeloma UK policies and procedures. This role may require travel across the UK therefore the post holder must be willing to travel and have access to a good transport network.

About You

The Support Group Coordinator will maintain an awareness and understanding of all legislation that may be relevant to the role such as health and safety, general data protection regulation, disclosure checks etc.

Experience in implementing a variety of meetings and events, working with support groups and/or volunteer networks and of increasing the reach, effectiveness and impact of services are essential for this role. The role of the Myeloma Information Specialist is to provide a range of information and support on myeloma and related conditions to anyone affected by myeloma including patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

You will work with the team on the Myeloma UK Infoline, taking calls and responding to queries, and assisting in the development and monitoring of the Infoline and related services. You will require to develop an awareness of research and clinical developments and other initiatives in the field of myeloma and related conditions.

About you

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, and you will require to have previous experience in information delivery, as well as good IT and organisational skills. Previous experience working in oncology, haematology, clinical research, or a healthcare environment would be an advantage for this role.

The role of Patient Information Officer is to maintain, develop and deliver accurate printed and online information (written and audio/visual) on myeloma and its related conditions for patients, their family and carers, as well as ensuring complex medical and scientific language is translated into clear and concise information for a patient audience.

The post holder will work with colleagues to ensure close communication and sharing of information across the organisation and report progress regularly to their line manager.

About you

Do you have an eye for detail and experience at writing for different audiences and across different channels? Are you able to simplify complex scientific and medical information into lay terms?

Our ideal candidate is someone who has excellent copy writing and proofing skills, who can manage their own workload and who is confident at liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.

Previous experience in writing information materials for patients, working directly with patients, carers and family members, developing content for information events and general health and cancer knowledge would be an advantage for this role.

As Senior Policy Officer you will be part of the Patient Advocacy team which makes sure that the voice of myeloma patients counts with decision makers. This role is one of three in the team. All Senior Policy Officers are expected to apply their skills flexibly across key policy areas for myeloma, with this role holding lead responsibility for our work on strengthening the Patient Voice. You will also work with colleagues in communications and fundraising to make sure our supporters and the wider myeloma community understand the positive impact we make.

You will review and analyse policy documents, engage with external stakeholders, draft position papers, reports, and responses to consultations, and will contribute to our work to get to the most effective new myeloma treatments approved on the NHS. As Patient Voice lead you will have special responsibility for working with and stewarding our Advocacy Partner Panel, a group of patients and carers who provide insight and support to our patient advocacy work.

The role holder should be educated to degree level with experience in delivering pieces of work to time, budget and to a high standard as well as experience in report writing for and presentation giving to different audiences and preparing action plans, business cases and marketing materials. You will require to understand the principles of effective communication and relationship building and an understanding of accreditation processes or other quality systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels both internally and externally, including presentation skills, strategic thinking and problem -solving skills and attention to detail are essential for this role. The Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) is a Myeloma UK best practice accreditation programme for myeloma centres, developed in partnership with patients, family members and healthcare professionals. The role of Clinical Practice Services Senior Project Officer is to design, implement and evaluate a new CSEP strategy. The enhanced CSEP programme will work in close partnership with hospitals to support them in their role to achieve best practice in their care and support of myeloma patients and their families.

The role holder should be educated to degree level with experience in project and process administration and delivering pieces of work to time, budget and standards agreed. You will require to have an understanding of accreditation processes or other quality systems and general health and cancer knowledge, as well as experience of writing reports and giving presentations to different audiences, evidence of building effective relationships to deliver objectives, preparing action plans, business cases and marketing materials.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels both internally and externally, including presentation skills and the ability to research topics and identify key information are essential for these roles. You will need to be able to manage your own workload and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as good IT skills and familiarity with short surveys and basic analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.

Previous experience of working with the NHS and/or with healthcare professionals to deliver projects, working in the charity sector, scientific or medical writing and working on cancer and/or myeloma-type projects would be an advantage for this role.

The role of Peer Programme Co-ordinator is to develop a new peer-to-peer service to provide information and support to anyone affected by myeloma and its related conditions and develop the new volunteer-led service that will sit alongside the current services offered by the Myeloma Information Specialist team. This service will use volunteers to provide bespoke support to people affected by myeloma and its related conditions and work on a referral basis.

The post holder will work with colleagues to ensure close communication and sharing of information across the organisation and report progress regularly to their line manager.

A minimum of one year’s experience of implementing volunteer/user involvement in service delivery, experience of recruiting, training, managing and supervising or mentoring a diverse range of staff or volunteers and experience of working in services which deliver positive outcomes for patients, carers and/or families is essential for this role. You will require an understanding of health and safety principles and practice and an understanding of the challenges that may arise from delivering digital/telephone support.

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a high level of organisational and IT skills, and the ability to understand and meet training and development needs of volunteers. Previous experience working in haematology, oncology, clinical research or healthcare, together with experience in information delivery over the telephone and in person would be an advantage for this role.

This is a part-time post for 28 hours per week worked over 4 days. The post is currently home based, with hub-based office days.
