Just Transition Officer

The STUC – Scotland’s Trade Union Centre – is seeking to recruit two Just Transition Officers to join the Policy & Campaigns team.

These new positions will play a pivotal role in engaging workers around Scotland, including in high-carbon industries, to develop a positive trade-union agenda to tackle the climate crisis.

The STUC has recently moved to a purpose-built office in the East End of Glasgow.

Campaigns & Communications Officer

The STUC – Scotland’s Trade Union Centre – is seeking to recruit a full-time permanent Campaigns & Communications Officer.

The Campaigns and Communications Officer will work as part of a team assisting in the organisation and promotion of key STUC campaigns and events, using media, website and social media platforms to promote the policies and campaigns of the STUC and its affiliates.

The right candidate will have demonstratable experience of working with the media, both digital and print, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Candidates must have a commitment to trade union values.

The STUC is due to move into a purpose-built trade union centre in Bridgeton in early 2022 but all staff are currently working from home.

Campaigns & Communications Officer (Unions Into Schools)

The Campaigns & Communications Officer (Unions Into Schools) is an exciting new role which will play a key part in furthering the development of our innovative Unions Into School programme. This programme has been delivering sessions on trade unions, workers’ rights & equality issues to school and college students for 16 years.

A key part of this role will be creating high-quality and engaging digital content, including video, interactive resources, and webpages to support the delivery of the programme.

Working with a team of colleagues, you will liaise with schools and colleges to organise Unions Into School sessions, identify opportunities to increase activity and promote the programme, and to develop bespoke activities to meet the needs of particular groups of students.

The Campaigns & Communications Officer (Unions Into Schools) will facilitate online events as well as supporting the wider delivery of STUC activities.

Committee and Administrative Officer

The STUC -Scotland’s Trade Union Centre- is seeking to recruit a full-time permanent Committee and Administrative Officer to join the Policy & Equalities Team.

The Committee and Administrative Officer is an essential position that facilitates the democratic structures of the STUC by providing administrative support to a range of STUC Equality Committees, in addition to any ad-hoc working groups or task forces that may be set up from time to time.

Organising meetings, conferences and other events and ensuring timeous production of supporting documentation are key features of this role.

The Committee and Administrative Officer will also support the delivery of STUC Annual Congress and contribute to the central administration function of the organisation.
